With a background in English Literature, Rakovic’s practice approaches painting as a vehicle for narrative beyond language, exploring storytelling through image, fragment, and affect. Her work is driven by an interest in the emotional and political potential of narrative to cultivate empathy and imagine alternative ways of being.

Drawing on her experience as a second-generation immigrant, Rakovic explores the intersections of identity, memory, and place. She is particularly interested in metamorphosis, shapeshifting, and more-than-human ecologies, creating narratives in which the boundaries between human, animal, and environment become porous. By re-imagining the human-animal divide as a site of kinship rather than hierarchy, her work proposes speculative ecologies where interdependence, coexistence, and co-creation offer alternatives to inherited structures of control.
